It is known that Suzuki targets Jorge Lorenzo, who has been MotoGP World champion for 2019 season. While Suzuki was thinking of signing a new contract with Rins, who started this year well, he had run out of patience with Andrea Iannone and has been looking for alternative names instead of Italian racer.
Suzuki Targets Jorge Lorenzo for 2019
Iannone has not been able to fulfill his role for Suzuki lead racer since joining the team in 2017. The Italian racer finished the championship in the 13th place last year. However, this year he finished the first race in the ninth place and the second race in the eighth place. Although Rins couldn’t finish the first race, he became first in Argentina. Now Lorenzo has a chance to be Rins’s team mate in 2019. The team believes that GSX-RR is good for Lorenzo’s style. After a challenging season with Ducati, Lorenzo couldn’t finish opening race of season and he scored only a point and said that he didn’t feel good.
It is a fact that Lorenzo will not be able to earn 12 million Euros in a new season, due to the lack of results and the rise of Andrea Dovizioso in the team. For this reason, while the next three races are critical, a possible resurgence may persuade Lorenzo to stay in the team, despite low payment. On the other hand, Suzuki does not have a source to offer the money that Lorenzo earns, and this could be an important issue. However, Suzuki seems to have few alternatives except Lorenzo, and as a result, he can do his best for a 30-year-old racer.
